4th of July Week

HAPPY BELATED INDIE DAY!

For the week of 4th of July, I had a break day on Monday, where I just stayed home and relaxed.
I had dinner with my family and watched Netflix all day.

Tuesday, I had work and then Dan picked me up to go to his house.
His sister, Jodi, was visiting from Portland, Oregon, for a week, and I decided to join Dan in seeing her again. The last time I saw her was last summer, so it's been a whole year.

Wednesday, Dan and I slept in, and we went to watch The Heat. It was a very funny movie, and I could not stop laughing.
I tried to dress casually with natural make up.
I also used my dry shampoo, which works so well, that Dan started using it whenever I bring it.
Although it makes my hair feel powdery at first, it really gives my hair enough volume to style it.

On the 4th of July, we visited Dan's mom's friend, Sandy, at her home for an Independence Day party.
First we dropped somethings off, and then we headed for Brigantine Beach.
We all made the mistake of going into the water thinking it would be a little warmer since it was so hot outside.
We froze and laid on our towels to absorb back the heat we lost.

For my make up, I used:
Sephora Eyeshadow Sample [as liner (I traced over the gel shadow)]
Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Charcoal [for the top and bottom waterline]
MAC x Marilyn Monroe Lipstick Collection Deeply Adored

Some people fell asleep under the sun... and, surprisingly, did NOT get burned or tan.
The funny thing is I like to be fair-skinned, and he wishes he could get tans while he never gets tan, even with 8 SPF, while I get slightly tan with 30 SPF and 50 SPF.

From Sandy's house, we had the bay view of Atlantic City.

On Friday, we all had a break day and jumped into the pool to relax. Lucky for me, I only had a few bug bites.

Saturday, I went kayaking for the first time.
I didn't take any pictures because no one brought any electronics.
All I can say is, I'm really glad I left everything in the car because I flipped over 4 times and it was very hard and painful to walk through the river.
Unfortunately, my body is covered in bug bites that I am now trying to avoid to itch by keeping myself occupied.
Trust me, you do NOT want a picture of that.
I've always wondered how other people have so much self-control that they don't scratch their bug bites.
I can't help it!

All adventures always have an end.
Our departure involved scary dark clouds. This weather is what I call... Poop weather.

It wasn't that bad.
On our way back, we saw fireworks... not from a distance...
But right in front of it.
These were launched a street away from the car.
It explained the traffic, but at least we had entertainment.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A DEAR FRIEND, MIKE!

On the weekend of  June 28th, we celebrated our friend, Mike's birthday.
Unfortunately, I forgot the memo that the event was semi-formal, so when Dan returned from work, I borrowed his car, went to Target, and bought a dress.

Dress - Target
Headband - Choies

When I purchased the dress, I didn't try it on because I was in a mighty rush. Luckily, it looked pretty good on me and it fit.

This is me being silly in the car. Something to kill time on the ride to Sushi Palace.
The headband I purchased online.
In fact, in the month of June, I have purchased a lot of stuff online that I have been unable to take pictures of and make a haul post.
Hopefully, I can find time to do that.

Lately, we've been getting a lot of crazy weather, and when I say crazy weather, I mean, rain...
It's crazy! It's been raining when it's completely sunny outside. WHY?!

Haha! Nothing says Happy Birthday like a silly pic of the birthday boy.

This may look small, but it really isn't.
We had two sets of menus, one for each table (2).
In total, we had 4 plates of sushi with no-one-knows-how-many rolls of sushi.

After Sushi Palace, we went straight to karaoke.
Here's our friend, Jiten, singing his heart out.
This was their first time singing at karaoke at a place 5-10 minutes from their apartment, and we had so much fun.

The next day, we decided to make a spur of the moment decision and headed to New York aka Canada Day aka Birthday Part 2.

Instagram recently came out with a new feature where we can take videos... Mike wanted to try something cool. We never finished.

Oh look! Sephora! One of my favorite shopping places.

Originally, we went to Central Park to see LIGHTS free performance for Canada. Instead, we found a different party to take part in.
The music was awesome. We were so pumped, we started a congo line.

Next stop... Time Square

We were so hungry at 11, we stopped at Junior's. Delicious food there. We had a lot of funny moments there too.

When we left, we ended up right back at Time Square...
And Mike gave us a dance.

The next morning, we were all exhausted from one of the best weekends of our lives.
We all decided, it was break day.
Dan couldn't be happier that it was break day.

If you ever go to Starbucks again, you have to try the Cotton Candy Frappuccino.
Vanilla Bean Frappuccino
Tall - ONE pump of Raspberry Syrup
Grande - TWO pumps of Raspberry Syrup
Venti - THREE pumps of Raspberry Syrup

I shared the picture on Facebook, and an acquaintance decided to challenge my taste buds and blatantly tell me he wasn't going to get it because it sounded stupid and some people commented on the Starbucks page saying it tasted nothing like cotton candy.
Shaking... My... Head.
Always try the things you want to try, regardless of what people say.

It was a nice break day.
That night we watched Monsters University. Okay movie.
Then, Dan drove me home.

"Step 2: Go Exploring: Roll the Dice"

"How far to go? Roll the dice. Seven blocks it is.
Take the train? Roll evens and buy the ticket.
Two dice can take you practically anywhere and
save you lots of time on unimportant decisions.
Keep them in your pocket. They'll help keep things
interesting."

It's been almost a month since I last posted, only because I was trying to find an opportunity to "roll the dice". Unfortunately, I could not.

With all the conflicts of sharing a car with my parents, going to work, preparing for summer session, I couldn't find an opportunity to do this.
It is also unfortunate for me to say that I will not be doing this.
I will, however, share with you some adventures that I have had. You will not be disappointed.

As you all know, this is Dan. He is le boyfriend.
Our 1-year anniversary passed in April, but with financial issues, he couldn't get me a present... until the last week of June.

He got me this adorable Squishable, whom we haven't really named, and thus, we call him, Mr. Walrus. How very ordinary.
He is the cutest thing and so soft and, most definitely, squishable.
I have managed to spam my Instagram with many pictures of him.

This was my second picture of Mr. Walrus. #squishable

"Sumo Walrus takes down Dan."

"What a pretty walrus."

"Mr. Walrus likes Black Dirty."
For those of you who do not know, Black Dirty is a band, in which Dan's brother is in.

This is a posed picture of a very hungry walrus...
The next morning, I woke up and found this.
The poor eggs and bacon never saw it coming...
[The eggs and bacon are also Squishables. I purchased that for Dan as an anniversary present.]

The weekend I was gifted with Mr. Walrus, I visited Dan's home in South Jersey. We always make our favorite for breakfast... a breakfast sandwich. I make the eggs, he makes the bacon.

Later that day, we went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to watch Black Dirty at The Fire.
I know, this is not The Fire. This church is actually around the street from The Fire.
It seems every time I go to see Black Dirty play, there is a church near their venue.

Finally, here is BLACK DIRTY!
