Here's a 20 Questions Tag that I found from Beautyfabb

Just to... you know... PROCRASTINATE on some school assignments.

1.  Thing you cannot leave the house without?

I definitely cannot leave my house without my iPhone. It's become, basically, a part of me because it's the only thing I have to stay in contact with my friend in Korea, other than my laptop.

2. Favorite brand of makeup?

I'm split between Revlon and Rimmel because they're both affordable. Ooooh! But there's also NYX...

Okay... I'm going with Revlon because I have more Revlon products than any other brand.

3. Favorite flowers?

Daisies. I've always been a daisy gal. Except I can draw a mean rose.

4. Favorite clothing store?

It used to be Forever 21, but I completely switched to Urban Outfitters, even though it's pricey. Hey, that's what the sale section's for. Other than that, I actually buy a lot of my clothes online because I'm too busy to go to the mall.

5. Favorite perfume?

The only perfume I use constantly is Marc Jacobs Dot. My mom bought it for me for Christmas last last year and I use it because it reminds me of her.

6. Heels or flats?

I'm more of a mix of both, but my job as a teacher requires me to not show toes, so I wear flats more even though I love heels.

7. Do you make good grades?

I'd like to keep this one a secret.

8. Favorite colors?

Turquoise. Any really pretty blue-green color.

9. Do you drink energy drinks?

No. I don't consider that healthy for myself, even though I drink soda, which probably isn't any better.

10. Do you drink juice?

Sometimes. Pomegranate juice is the best.

11. Do you like swimming?

I... LOVE... Swimming... In fact... I miss it, so... Spring and winter need to go away, so I can swim in my boyfriend's pool...

12. Do you eat fries with a fork?

Nahhhhhhhh. Who cares?

13. What's your favorite moisturizer?

I don't use moisturizer... At all. I buy a ton of hand lotion at Bath and Body Works over the winter, but you will never... ever... see me using them... Maybe once or twice a year. But for face? ... No.

14. Do you want to get married later on in life?

Yes. 

15. Do you get mad easily?

Yes. I actually envy people who don't because my anger shoots me off at skeptical rants about everything.

16. Are you into ghost hunting?

Are you kidding me? I HATE ghosts. If there are ghosts, I'd like to make peace with them, just so they don't haunt me to death.

17. Any phobias?

Uhm... Yes? Who doesn't?

I used not be deathly afraid of bugs, but after being holed up at home just to glue my eyes to the television and my laptop, I've grown a hatred for bugs. Especially mosquitoes. They eat me... No lie. I'm kind of afraid of heights.

18. Do you bite your nails?

Guilty. I'm not proud of it. Strangely, I don't bite my nails when they're painted because I'm scared of all those chemicals entering my body, but when I'm thinking, bored, or hungry (which is constantly), I bite my nails. Once again, not proud of it.

19. Have you ever had a near death experience?

Not that I can think of at the top of my head.

20. Do you drink coffee?

Yes... yes... yes. I am trying to limit myself from Starbucks. That's not healthy for me... but every once in a while, I'll want it...

Ansees Things: Where Is Chivalry?

We can all agree that men were more chivalrous "back in the day", but what has changed that allows people to question this topic?

For starters, I want to clarify that I have asked three of my friends these questions (two guys, one girl) and there were some of their responses were quite similar.

Is chivalry dead? Why or why not?

Guy #1: Personally for me, no, but not under the same classic definition. I do it because it falls under being a good person.

Girl #1: I guess. Overall, you can see that things have changed, but it all comes down differently to every individual.

Guy #2: You mean for me? Like holding a door open or giving up seats for old people?

A friend told me that he thought chivalry is dead because of certain girls. For example, there was a line of people going through a door, one by one. Each person opened the door for the person behind them. All of a sudden, this one girl decides to slip through the door without holding it for him and the door slammed right into his face. Do you agree that this is why chivalry has grown rare?

Guy #1: I mean, yes, it's annoying, but I just accept the fact that there will always be scum; so I take solace in the fact that the good ones appreciate it.

Girl #1: It's like stereotyping, but if you run across these types of people, you're going to have a bad time.

Guy #2: Some people are stupid. I don't think chivalry is dead as you can always find someone with very kind manners and etc., but I think it has greatly declined over the years to the point that it is pretty rare.

What about in relationships? After a period of time of dating, do guys become too comfortable with girls?

(Note: Guy #2 was asked more than just this question.)

Guy #1: Well, I've never had anything last that long, but I'd like to think that I would always at least offer to carry things, and I understand the need to spend alone time with me. However, I can't pass judgement on that since I don't know all the details.

Girl #1: Again, we can't make one assumption after seeing a couple of examples. I think fights and arguments can happen, and it all depends on every individual person. People can take each other for granted at any length of the relationship

Guy #2: Could be just that specific situation. I think it's silly to expect certain boyfriends to be chivalrous. I mean, it's a good characteristic, but I think, someone would know what type of person her boyfriend is. If he never exhibited any qualities of a chivalrous guy, then how could you expect that person to change? The other point is that in this day and age, with increased rights and standards for women, a lot of men's view of women have changed from the weak girly type to whom I should open doors for to the strong independent female type to whom they are capable enough to carrying their own suitcases. Thus, carrying suitcases for women would somehow undermine their status as a hardworking or independent woman. I think society doesn't look at girls anymore as defenseless weaklings, which is why there is a driver for chivalry. More than ever, people look at women as equals. They don't feel the need to give up their seats or hold open doors for them. It's more of a side effect of the changing times. I think all people, men and women, have a more feminist mindset. Like, take for instance, if I lived in the 1950s, I would be more inclined to give up my bus seat to a woman, whereas, nowadays, I only give up my seat to old people or children. After all, women have legs too, so how are they more deserving of a seat than me? Although sometimes I am prone to random acts of kindness and will give up my seat to women. All in all, I just think people don't value chivalry as much anymore. Many women don't care if it's given to them anymore and men don't care to give it out.

I've heard some girls say this before, myself included: If I was a guy and had a girlfriend, I would always be nice.

However I realized that all girls would most likely say something like that, but guys would also say: "If I was a girl and had a boyfriend, I wouldn't go all crazy about this and that"? The only reason why they would say that is because they're saying it from their gender's perspective. I mean, naturally, all guys would say that and all girls would say the opposite, but if they were really the opposite gender, it wouldn't be that way, right?

Guy #1: I dont' know how much I can say on this since I've been told I'm mature beyond my years, but it boils down to the fact that when you're with the right person, you shouldn't have these thoughts. Nonetheless, every relationship is a compromise, and if something does come up, when you're with the right person, you work through it and figure it out.

Girl #2: I think it can be a cultural thing that girls seem to react that way, but I think everyone has it different. Having a lot of boyfriends, yes, everyone is different and also seeing other relationships too. I think there is a societal perception that makes us feel that girls say that a lot. Then again, if you're not feeling satisfied and having issues with your boyfriend being this or whatever, that's a whole other issue. Ultimately... Communication issues. That's what it really comes down to.

Guy #2: Yeah, I agree, which is like the whole thing with the battle of the sexes. Women and men value different things. Guys say that because men, in general, think: "Hey, if you want me to help with your bags, just ask!" Where as, women value the act of kindness itself without direction: "I shouldn't have to ask you to help, you should already want to!" This is why it's hard for men and women to put themselves in each others shoes. I will say that if I saw my girlfriend struggling with suitcases and did nothing, then I would be like, "What the heck's wrong with me?" Overall, I do believe in chivalry. I think it's lame if you're chivalrous to a girl when you first meet because you're just being that nice, so she will like you. Rather, for me, I would take more pride over time being chivalrous to my girlfriend because I've grown to actually like/love her, so performing nice acts would be something I would do to show affection.

Thus, from what I have gathered, the question of whether acts of chivalry still exists depends on different people, considering everyone is different and unique in their own way. It has come to the point where people expect too much from others. To some, chivalry might be dead, but, maybe, they're just meeting the wrong people. We cannot change people's ways, but we can influence them by showing our own acts of kindness.

Moral of this interview: Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

BACK, IN LONDON LILAC!

Hellllllo, everyone.

It's been QUITE a while since I've written a blog...

and it may be like this for  while considering my college life is coming to an end, and I'm SWAMPED with papers and exams during April and May. After that I'll be pretty preoccupied with my job teaching little munchkins and being a wedding time manager for one of my student's parent's business.

I've also applied for an internship at Newark Museum.

On another note, I've decided on some changes in my life.

1.) Work hard.

[That's ALWAYS #1, considering I want to get out of college on time and deal with real world problems. (sarcasm intended) Hey, we gotta do what we gotta do. That's the motto for this year, as I've been telling everyone and everyone's been telling me.]

2.) Earn money.

[Think about it. In order to get on with our lives, go places, see places, or just to start somewhere. We all need some money, and the only way to earn money... refer to #1.]

3.) Mingle.

[We all need a little connection, a sort of social life, so why not go and mingle. I can tell you that during the time I haven't posted anything on my blog. I've only met 3 new people, and I've only REALLY gotten to know one. It can also never hurt to have more friends. Friends are great supports to have in your life. No one can really live without friends. I can tell you, Dan has learned to be a lot more outgoing after meeting me because I've pushed him to mingle and make connections. I can't say I haven't done the same, but I should probably start.]

4.) Change in appearance.

[I've decided to go crazy for my last year in college. Go out with a BANG, if you know what I mean. I'll get into more detail about that later.]

5.) Express.

[I used to write a ton of originals. Heck, I've posted over 300 YouTube videos of me playing guitar and singing because I had a lot of emotions. I was an emotional wreck. Let's be honest, we were all an emotional wreck at one point in our lives. I've decided, I want to sing more. My friend is an amazing bassist, and I have two friends who are amazing guitarists. Why not... Put a band together? It's the last year for me and my bass friend, why not?]

Which leads me to #6...

6.) WHY NOT?

[Just continue asking yourself. "Why not?" Of course, there WILL be a LOT of things where there are reasonable excuses for you to not do something, like #1 and #2, but sometimes a little spontaneity never hurt anyone.]

So that's what I've decided on for this year. I'll be trying my hardest on getting myself into the real world, and so will a lot of people. I just hope people enjoy my quest to find the place where I belong.

I... dyed...

MY HAIR!

Yes, I dyed my hair PURPLE. Just kidding.

Or rather, just a little white lie.

I did dye my hair.

However, because my hair is dark brown, the color only REALLY shows with a light source.

I used Vidal Sassoon London Luxe in London Lilac.

I don't really like bleaching my hair because I did that before and it was not attractive in my point of view.

(Blonde just doesn't suit me.)

Plus, my parents would NEVER allow me to dye my hair a bright color for their own reasons, which they are entitled to.

Now, Vidal Sassoon London Luxe in London Lilac gives you two options, root application and whole head application.

In March, I dyed my hair to have an ombre effect starting in the middle.

Looking good right? It gave a pretty cool effect.

[For the record, this picture had no filter. I chose a very nice angle... in a car... and it was bright and sunny outside.]

So, by the end of the month, the color started to fade and I wanted to go bolder.

I ended up doing more than half of my hair...

It's okay though, I'm slowly making my way to the whole head...

There's still about two inches of my hair that hasn't been dyed yet.

My hair also grew out a lot since then.

I know, I know. My hair looks PINK in this picture.

That's the thing. I feel like, in different lighting and for dark brown haired girls like me, the colors change, which I think is pretty cool, and I'm completely satisfied with it.

When you buy the box, it comes with the applicator bottle, the cream mixture, and the conditioner. The conditioner... is heavenly. I love it. When I bleached my hair and dyed it 4 years ago, I wish I knew about this conditioner. It is awesome. It makes my hair silky smooth and so soft as opposed to harsh, dry hair.

I'm considering dying my whole head purple, but we'll see first... on my parent's reaction.

So that's the big change!

Review: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation N118

I recently asked for a sample of Make Up For Ever's HD Foundation in N118 because I wanted a high-end foundation, and when I tried Tarte's Amazonian Clay Foundation, I had a bad reaction to it.

I also mentioned this in my last post and said that I would post a review of what I thought and whether I would purchase it or not.

Well, I bought it!

I normally use Rimmel's Match Perfection Foundation as my drugstore foundation, but there are times when I would find it too cakey for my taste.

When I tried the sample of Make Up For Ever's HD Foundation, it covered a lot and it was very light, which I liked very much. It really made my skin look flawless.

The packaging is very clean with a pump, which is very different from Rimmel. I like the pump because it easier to use and control the amount you prefer to use rather than an open bottle.

This product leaves me speechless, and I'm so happy I made the purchase, even though it was a bit pricey.

However, for $42, I feel it was worth it.

Not to mention Sephora also included a birthday present to me, which was surprisingly, more Make Up For Ever products.

The Sephora present includes a:

Make Up For Ever Mascara in Smoky Extravagant

and a

Make Up For Ever Lipstick in Rouge Artist Natural N9.

Normally, when I use mascara, I use waterproof mascara so it will last longer and won't smudge onto my face.

Smoky Extravagant is a long-lasting mascara and it does not clump at all.

I wore it all day today and my eyelashes still feel pretty soft and not clumpy.

The lipstick is a neutral rosy nude color, and it is very moisturizing.

Honestly, I would definitely splurge on these products again.

Welcome to the New Year!

Hey, hey, everyone. Welcome to 2014!

This is pretty new for me considering I'm using the Blogger app on my phone to make this post at 1:42 AM.

So there's no special format to this post.

So just to fill you in, I spent New Years with some of my awesome friends and my adorable boyfriend.

Haha. These guys...

Anyway, 4 days after four of us journeyed out to Vermont to go skiing at Stratton Mountain.

I must say, it was pretty awesome.

For New Years, I wore Tarte's Amazonian Clay Foundation and unfortunately found out that I'm allergic to it!

What a shame considering I've heard good things about this brand. After New Year's, I took the foundation off and my skin was dry, red, peeling, and in pain. I had to moisturize it and not wear foundation for 3-4 days. Luckily, that did the trick, and my skin was back to normal.

So that was my unfortunate experience with Tarte. I've seen some YouTubers use this foundation, and they had high praises for it, so it was basically just my skin having a bad reaction to it.

I went to Sephora yesterday and asked for advice about which foundation I could use. The one I currently use is Rimmel's Match Perfection Fiundation, which I really like, so I was looking for a foundation similar to it. The sales lady recommended Hourglass ($55), but since I did not want to spend over $50 on foundation, she recommended Make Up Forever. I was still cautious about it, so she gave me a free sample of it. I haven't used it yet, but when I do, I'll keep you updated!

Hello, readers!

It's been quite a while since I posted, and I apologize for the inconsistency of my posts.

I've been awfully busy with school this semester, but now I'm on winter break!

I decorated my Christmas tree with my mom this past weekend and cleaned my room because it looked like a tornado of clothes ransacked it.

Instead of using silk flowers this year, we used butterflies instead.

So I decided to be creative and made one of my butterflies huddled around a Christmas light for warmth.

I thought this was especially funny, since I didn't see turkeys on Thanksgiving, but these guys were a little late to the Thanksgiving party. [Meaning: I took this 3 days ago.]

Of course, it wouldn't be winter without snow.

I also found this app where I can make my own iPhone 5 cases from pictures that I have.

Inspired by winter, I made this one.
